Ngorongoro Crater at 2.286m is the largest unbroken caldera in the World. The jewel in Ngorongoro crown is a deep Volcanic Crater, about 20kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq kms in area.2000 feet below the rim. The Crater floor is dotted with watering holes and shelters almost 30,000 animals in an area naturally enclosed by the walls of the volcano. This is the only Park where the Black Rhino could be spotted, famous too for Buffalo, Cheetah, Lion, Hyena, Hippo, Zebras, Elephants, Wildebeest, and many more of Africa’s most spectacular game animals.

- Day 1 - Arusha - Ngorongoro Crater (Game Drives)
Picked up at Arusha and you’ll descend into the legendary Ngorongoro Crater for an unforgettable game drive. Often referred to as the eighth natural wonder of the world, the Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest unbroken and un-flooded caldera. Formed over two million years ago when a massive volcano erupted and collapsed in on itself, the crater now spans over 19 kilometers in diameter with towering walls rising 600 meters high. Within this natural sanctuary lies a diverse range of ecosystems from lush acacia forests and grassy plains to freshwater swamps teeming with hippos. These varied habitats are home to more than 30,000 animals, including elephants, warthogs, flamingoes, a wide variety of bird species, and the elusive black rhino. You’ll also have the chance to spot lions, leopards, and cheetahs roaming the crater floor.

This morning, enjoy a rich cultural tour at Mto wa Mbu, a vibrant town nestled at the gateway to Lake Manyara National Park. Known for its incredible cultural diversity, Mto wa Mbu is home to over 120 different tribes from across Tanzania, making it a unique melting pot of traditions, languages, and lifestyles. Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll explore this bustling agricultural community famous for its rice paddies and distinctive red bananas. Visit local farms, interact with artisans and craftsmen, and gain insight into traditional techniques of painting, carving, and weaving. Following your tour, later you will begin your drive back to Arusha.
