  • Day 1 - Departure
    • The tour guide will meet you at either Cape Town International Airport or your hotel in Cape Town (08:00) • A brief meeting with basic instructions and providing you with a 2-way radio setup for communication • Self-drive in your own vehicle to the first destination in the Karoo (5 hours) • Stop at a traditional Karoo farmstall on route for lunch • Check-in comfortable chalets (14:00) • Optional guided afternoon drive in tour guide’s SUV (16:00-18:00) • Dinner at the restaurant followed by a guided night drive in an open game viewer (19:00-21:00) • Target species include African wildcat, caracal, aardwolf, brown hyena, porcupine, lion, and bat-eared fox

  • Day 2 - Greater Karoo and 4x4 route
    • Guided morning SUV 4x4 drive exploring diurnal species such as lion, eland, kudu as well as a variety of birds, secretary bird, verreaux’s eagle and karoo korhaan (07:00-10:00) • Lunch at the restaurant followed by time to relax • Optional guided afternoon drive in tour guide’s SUV 4x4 (16:00-18:00) • Dinner at the restaurant followed by a guided night drive in an open game viewer (19:00-21:00) • Target species include African wildcat, caracal, aardwolf, brown hyena, porcupine, lion, and bat-eared fox

  • Day 4 - Explore the Northern Cape

Some people choose self-drive because of South Africa's excellent roads and facilities. In most cases, your local tour operator will arrange airport pickup and additional transportation as part of your tour package. 
Other international airports are located in Cape Town and Durban, but there are few direct flights from Europe or America to either destination.
