The Selous and Mikumi safaris are classic safaris in Southern Tanzania. They start at Dar es Salaam, allowing guests an encounter with the rarest of African wildernesses, and take you to Greater Selous Ecosystem. Usually, this is done from a vehicle so that guests can enjoy the most authentic experience possible.

  • Day 1 - Dar es Salaam To Mikumi National Park
    The journey will start from Dar es Salaam earlier in the morning, when our professional driver will pick you up and drive to Mikumi National Park. On arrival at Mikumi NP, you will learn how to make fire with sticks and more about the Maasai. You'll also experience the places where most of them live, such as their traditions and customs. After the safari, head back to your camp for preparation so that you can get on with your next scheduled activities.

  • Day 2 - Full Day Game Drive At Mikumi National Park
    When you wake up in the morning, after breakfast, head out to Mikumi National Park. You'll have a full day game view on that day and experience wonderful animals like lions, elands and buffalos found here. In nutshell, Mikumi flood plain is the main feature of the park bordering the mountain ranges. In the afternoon, you will be spent time to get lunch and rest before advancing with a game drive until evening when you will be back at the camp for preparation on next schedule.

  • Day 3 - Mikumi National Park to Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere NP) + B
    In the morning, after breakfast, you will be picked-up from your Camp and driven to Nyerere National Park. There is a picnic lunch on the way. Afterwards, arrive there in the evening and embark on a boat safari, where you’ll spot hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitats. Meals and your overnight stay will be offered at Africa Safari Camp.

  • Day 4 - Fully Day Game Drive at Selous Game Reserve
    On this day after breakfast, from 7:30 am to evening, you will do a full game drive tour at Nyerere National Park formerly know as Selous Game Reserve. The journey will start from the Africa Safari Selous where you will be taken by our professional drivers and guides. On this day, you will get to enjoy various tourist attractions like animals including elephant, zebra, giraffe, antelope and many more. Also, you will see birds and other landscape scenery with varied topography including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with vast views of far off mountains. In afternoon, you will have your packed lunch and sometime to rest. Then continue with the game drive until evening where you will return to Africa Safari Selous for dinner and sleep, preparing for the next last day.

  • Day 5 - Bushman Walking Safari & Back To Dar es Salaam
    On this day, you will get morning tea then enjoy a Bushman walking tour in the forest with our Bushman, accompanied by an armed ranger. After the walking tour, you will get back at Africa Safari Camp for breakfast and preparation to drive back to Dar es Salaam. While on the way, you will get time to eat launch.

  • Visas are best obtained in advance through an official online visa-application portal (https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/visa/), but they can also be obtained through your local Tanzania Embassy or High Commission.
  • Visas can also be obtained on arrival but this is a lengthy process that can take one to two hours.
