- Day 1 - Thursday Windhoek – Hotel A La Mer, Swakopmund – 420 kmDeparting from Windhoek, we start with a pre-departure meeting at our Head Office. Our journey takes us north via Okahandja and west to Walvis Bay, a Ramsar site known for its abundant birdlife, including flamingos. Flamingos flock here due to the rich plankton in Namibia's Atlantic coast. They feed by filtering nutrients from the water and create nests elsewhere for breeding. We then proceed to Swakopmund, a fascinating town with German colonial architecture and various optional activities. Lunch and dinner can be enjoyed at excellent local restaurants, with recommendations and bookings provided by our guide.
Main Destination: Swakopmund
Accommodation: Hotel A La Mer
Meals & Drinks: Breakfast Included
- Day 2 - Friday Swakopmund – Desert Camp, near Sesriem – 350 kmWe can enjoy a more relaxed morning in Swakopmund before our mid-morning departure. The town offers various activities to keep us entertained, including exploring the small town center on foot or opting for optional adventures like quad biking and sandboarding. Our guide will provide recommendations and assist with any bookings. Departing from Swakopmund, we venture east into the desert, crossing the Namib gravel plains and traversing two mountain passes, including the impressive Kuiseb Pass. We continue through the Gaub River canyon and cross the Tropic of Capricorn before reaching our destination, Desert Camp, near the entrance of Sesriem National Park. Here, we stay in twin rooms with en-suite facilities, and our guide will prepare dinner over an open fire, while a pool and bar are available for relaxation.

- Day 3 - Saturday Desert Camp, Sossusvlei – Desert Camp – 120 kmSunrise in the dunes is the highlight today, requiring an early start and breakfast. The best time for photography is during sunrise and sunset when the towering sand dunes display vibrant colors. From Sesriem, we quickly cover the 60 km distance to the 2×4 car park, where 2-wheel drive vehicles must stop. We then enter the ancient Tsauchab River-bed for the final 5 km to Sossusvlei. The riverbed is mostly dry, but in the past, occasional floods reached the Atlantic Ocean. Due to sand accumulation, the rivers are now blocked, and Sossusvlei is the permanent endpoint. Although rare, Sossusvlei still experiences flooding after heavy rains in the Naukluft Mountains. We'll use a 4x4 shuttle service to explore the area, including Dead Vlei with its ancient camelthorn trees. Sossusvlei is surrounded by dunes, offering an opportunity to climb one of the world's highest dunes for breathtaking views. We return the same way, stopping at Dune 45 before visiting Sesriem Canyon, carved by the Tsauchab River over millions of years.

- Day 4 - Sunday Desert Camp – Windhoek – 320 kmOur last day today but excitement is still on the menu. We head back to Solitaire and join open vehicle to visit one of their local conservation projects, in this case cheetah. Solitaire is home to a number of cheetah that, for different reasons, are unable to be released back into the wild. for different reasons. This excursion allows us the chance to learn all about the cheetah, the work done by local conservation projects, and also get some incredible photos of the world’s fastest land mammal. After the activity our guide will get us a sample the apple pie that has made this homestead famous. There is some lovely mountain scenery on our drive back to Windhoek. The road climbs up onto and over Namibia’s central plateau and we return to Windhoek via the small community at BűellsPort and the small town of Rehoboth. We arrive mid-afternoon and will be dropped at the accommodation of our choice within Windhoek city limits.
