Tour Features

A 2-day Tanzania safari is a perfect short adventure that takes you to two of the most famous wildlife destinations in northern Tanzania: Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. Starting from Arusha, you will explore Tarangire, a beautiful park known for its giant baobab trees and the largest population of elephants in Tanzania. The park’s open savannah and the Tarangire River attract many animals including giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, and predators such as lions and cheetahs. The safari continues to the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most remarkable natural wonders. The crater floor is home to a high concentration of wildlife, offering excellent chances to see lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and many other animals in one place. It is also one of the best locations in Tanzania to search for the rare black rhino. As your safari experts at Tanzania Safari Experience, we recommend this itinerary for travelers who want a short safari with incredible wildlife and stunning scenery.

Your safari begins in the morning with pick-up from your hotel in Arusha. After meeting your safari guide and receiving a short briefing, you will drive approximately two hours to Tarangire National Park.

Tarangire is famous for its diverse landscape, ancient baobab trees, and the largest concentration of elephants in Tanzania. The park offers excellent opportunities to observe large elephant families interacting near the Tarangire River. During the game drive, you may also encounter predators such as lions, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard, while giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest are commonly seen throughout the park.

Around midday you will stop at the Tarangire River picnic site to enjoy lunch while overlooking the river where wildlife often gathers to drink. Curious monkeys and baboons may approach during lunch, adding a bit of excitement to the experience.

After lunch, you will continue your afternoon game drive before exiting the park around 4:30 PM.

You will then drive to Mto wa Mbu village, where you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Your first stop will be the Ngorongoro Crater viewpoint, where you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. The scenery from the rim is spectacular and offers a perfect introduction to the crater.

You will then descend about 600 meters into the crater for a game drive on the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to a remarkable concentration of wildlife, making it one of the best places in Tanzania to see animals up close.

During your game drive, you may encounter lions, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, zebras, and large herds of wildebeest. The crater is also one of the best places in Tanzania to search for the endangered black rhino, which is often the highlight of the visit.

After enjoying a picnic lunch inside the crater, you will continue your game drive before ascending the crater walls and beginning the journey back to Arusha, where your safari ends with drop-off at your hotel.
