After breakfast, we will transfer you to Kigali to have a city tour. The history of Rwanda dates back centuries and Kigali has been a part of it for 100 years. Founded in 1907 as a German settlement, Kigali did not become the capital until Rwanda’s independence in 1962, when it replaced the colonial seat of power in Butare. You will visit the Kandt museum and see old Kigali and the craft centers. After that, you will visit the genocide memorial site to learn about Rwanda’s history -from precolonial times during the 1994 genocide- and other genocides in the world. You will also know how this country has dealt with that past. Later, we will depart Kigali and drive to Ruhengeri -3 hours by car- arriving in time for lunch at the Volcanoes National Park HQs. In the evening, a group of dancers will spice your stay with some of the most memorable Rwandan dances. (Optional at an extra cost of USD 35.00 per person) Overnight at: Virunga lodge/ (LDBB).

  • Day 3 - Gorilla trekking
We will do the registration and orientation before commencing our Gorilla trekking. There are only 88 gorilla permits available each day and a maximum of eight trekkers visiting any one group. Once the trekkers are separated into different groups, each group’s Lead Guide briefs the trekkers of the trekking procedures as well as the “do’s and don’ts” while in the presence of gorillas. After the briefing, trekkers return to their respective vehicles for the drive up the mountain to the starting point. Trekking can take from two to six or more hours if the gorillas move before the park rangers locate them the next morning. The guides stop frequently to allow trekkers a chance to rest and take photos along the way. After the trek, rejoin your driver Guide for a transfer to your lodge/hotel for lunch. After lunch, depart from the foothills of the volcanoes and drive south past coffee, tea and banana plantations on a scenic drive to Kigali. Then we will transfer you to the airport for your departure flight to Nairobi. Overnight at: Nairobi Hilton Gardens Hotel

Also, it's one of the few places where it's possible to see the big five during a morning game drive. Many of the cheetahs are so tame they seek shelter from the hot sun under one's vehicle and several even climb onto the roof to get a better view of prospective prey. For the bird enthusiast, almost 500 species have been recorded: among these 16 species of eagle, plus many hawks and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks 4 of bustard (including the Kori bustard, the world's heaviest flying bird), and 9 species of sunbirds. With walls of 2,000 ft high and a crater floor that spreads for 102 sq. miles, the crater is a virtual Noah's Ark, inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa including the rare black rhino. In fact, the crater has the greatest concentration of wildlife on the planet. It contains a river, several swamps, from the top, looks like steam, full of flamingoes, a forest and open plains. The large bull elephants that reside here have extremely large tusks, due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses.
