Overview

The Kwando concession is named after the Kwando stream which forms the eastern border of the concession and the northern border of Botswana; the Namibian region starts on the opposite side of the Kwando River. Kwando includes an assortment of living spaces from mopane to riverine woodland and broad floodplains with islands. There are two completely comprehensive, upmarket lodges run by Kwando Safaris in Kwando Concession. Lagoon Camp is situated close to the Kwando River, and Lebala Camp is close to the Linyanti Marshes. Emphasis is on quality service and wonderful guiding. Activities incorporate game drives, night drives, walking and boat safaris.

Wildlife & Animals

The Kwando Concession has a magnificent resident game that enlarges to extraordinary numbers during the dry season. Expect to see lions and leopards, particularly around the Kwando riverbanks. Crocodiles and hippos are regular in the Kwando River. The best time for game drives in Kwando Concession is in the months between July to October. These dry months bring thirsty crowds to the rivers and lagoons. Big herds of elephant, buffalo, zebra and wildebeest arrive at the permanent water sources when it gets really dry in June, and they usually stay until December. Predators tend to follow these migrations.

Birds

Birding in Kwando is exceptional. The concession is incredible for Okavango specials, like slaty egret, and the drier mopane forest species, like white-headed black chat.
